The missus is tending to the boy and I’m curled up in the basement with a fine IPA ready for game sevenanity. My prediction, 2-1 for the Nuckers.

Although I feel somewhat compelled to root against the Canadian team. I see the the excitement in Vancouver and the the passion in all those fans, it makes me flush with a sense of jealousy. I want that. I want to be at Yonge and Dundas Square watching the Toronto Maple Leafs play game seven of the Stanley Cup playoffs. I also want to go into outer space and I figure either scenario is just as likely at this point.

All right, after that anthem song by the fans in Rogers Centre, I’m in. Go Canucks!

Game six of NHL finals was over before I could pay any attention

I wrote on this blog last week about missing the NBA and NHL finals because I recently had a baby. Last night figured to be the first time I would watch any significant amount of the NHL finals. However, after my boy finished his bath and was put to bed the game was already well out of reach for the Canucks (4-0 Bruins in the first period). Not much point in tuning in to watch that train wreck. I’m planning to DVR game seven and watch it after bath time on Wednesday.

The NBA finals slipped by with me only catching about 15 minutes of game time. I tuned into game six midway through the third quarter, but with three minutes left in the game and the Mavs up by 10, my boy decided he was hungry. The boy won and I missed the last three minutes, but based on the result it seems that I did not miss much (the Mavs won by 10 and won the NBA title on Miami’s home court).

I actually feel kinda badly for the Miami Heat and their three superstars. I don’t think that their tripartite was as nefarious as people make it out to be. For one thing, I am convinced that Chris Bosh thought he was playing in Europe for the last seven years. Most of his teammates were Spanish or Italian, the Assistant GM was Italian and the money Bosh was paid with was in all sorts of different colours. Who can blame Bosh for wanting to play in the NBA?
